The First Experiments

My first experiments with computer software is used Flash to make animation.

Using computer software to create images and video is very convenient, I think it is amazing. Although there were a lot of complicated operations and buttons, and I also made various mistakes in the production process, I was very proud to finally make my own work.

Story Board

The first version of my story board. It about 3 minutes and it has 3 endings.

Target audience

The target audience of this project is the groups of international teenagers and young adults, because they are more interested in animated game media.

At this age, it including most web users who have access to online media.  

Cultural Context

I was first influenced by "The Classic of Mountains and Seas"(Shan Hai Jing), and I am very interested in this ancient book, which tells a very complete history and world view of ancient monsters. And "Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio"(Liao Zhai Zhi Yi), about a lot of people and the monster love story.

 In terms of art style, I was influenced by the Chinese animated film "The Legend of LuoXiaoHei", which tells a fantasy story with the elements of ancient Chinese mythology. It is a clear and colorful style that I like very much. With simple lines and shadows, movement of a large number of geometric shapes makes the picture very comfortable and healing.

                                      

User scenario

Jessica is a twenty year old college student, she is very interested in animation and games, usually on the social platform to browse the latest animation, film or game news. She hopes to find interesting content by browsing video.

 After a hard day's study, she would open video or social software to search for new content to relax after class every day. As a student without spare funds, watching video has become a good way of entertainment.

One day, she saw the animated video recommendation forwarded by her friends on the homepage of her social software, which is an interactive animation. Click on the link to have an immersive story experience and choose the ending of her story. Participating in a story in a lighthearted and funny way while watching the animation, she felt so relaxed that she retweeted the video content and recommended it to other friends.

In the tutorial on Thursday, I finally determined the final degree project and decided to make interactive animations.
Steve helped me a lot and recommended some excellent animators to me. Here I hope to become a better version of myself, so I choose to meet the challenge, I will undertake a new round of learning and challenges.

3 possible project ideas

①Create an interactive video animation with Chinese myth system and ancient myth stories as the background.
②Tell about Chinese religious beliefs, Buddhism and Taoism as the theme, tell about the concept of karma, make a video animation or a game.
③Make a fairy tale RPG game for children, the style of children's picture books.

General direction

As for my degree project, I hope to present it in the form of interactive video animation or RPG game.

This project will use Adobe Animate, AE, and other software to make a 2-D interactive animation video. They can help me make smoother animations. I will draw all the characters and scenes with a hand-drawn board, and work with the software for post-production animation.
